Wolf Creek Pass Opens October 8

We have relatives just down the road from Wolf Creek Pass in Pagosa Springs - looooooong drive.

Maybe I've finally hit enough slightly buried rocks, roots & stumps in my life to finally not be too sucked in to such sirens of early season tantalizations. Think I'll angle for the Coleman Glacier next week here at home. Witness the shrubbery sticking out in the near background. That hollow CO first powder makes the barely hidden "features" awfully close to knees and bases.

Apparently my son skied Wolf Creek today. My wife said he posted on Facebook, (A skill I have not yet learned) that there was 4 feet of snow. Like his uncle, he is prone to a touch of harmless exuberant exageration, however.

Dang, he beat my earliest lift season opener of Oct 18, ~1973 at Crystal.

Early snows often seem to be really great skiing. I always look at the TR for Oct 5, 2007 at Colman Glacier for inspiration this time of year.

Should this thread now be moved to Lift Accessed Ski Reports??
