From the base village of Curacautín we climbed and skied Volcán Llaima yesterday, the 18th of September, which also happens to be Chile's independence day.

Good snow and beautiful surroundings. Especially the forests of Auraucaria trees that the volcano jumps out of.

Celebrated the dieciocho last night in Pucón, and it would seem more volcanoes are in our future.

¡Buenos días!

Approach with araucária trees.

Rim of the summit crater, Lanin to the south.

Red Camel dropping.

Fired up on Volcanoes.
Nicely done Tab.

Great day for touring on Llaima.  The view from the summit is impressive.  Back in 2005 when we toured on Llaima for Jill's 61st birthday, we pulled the skins about 1500vf from the summit due to icy/rime conditions so your summit photo looks great.  We started our tour from the closed ski area and Jill convinced the caretaker to open the lodge for us to stay overnight-a unique experience.

The araucaria provide a wonderful backdrop for the volcano.

Volcan tour !  ;)

Go get those pumice piles  8)

Is Lanin next??  I climbed it years ago in the summer and remember it has quite a view also....Thanks for the inspiring TR!
