Labor Day weekend is pushing it for alpine skiing in southern Washington State, but La Nina made it possible. We actually carried our skis to the summit of Adams and `skied' the suncups down to Piker's Peak (big mistake, we should have carried the skis back down or, better yet, left them at the entrance to the chutes), but then we had a 4,000+ vertical run that was pretty good by any standards, and absolutely amazing given the date. There were runnels and some icy spots, but we could always find good, smooth snow for making turns. Great trip!
It's never too late for the SW chutes!
Pretty fantastic for September, I'd have to agree.

Awesome!  Way to take advantage!

Nice work agingclimber, and welcome to TAY!

Saw your tracks a few days later, agingclimber.  Either you are a way stronger skier than me, or conditions have deteriorated quickly in the heat, because we couldn't find smooth areas at all above 8000'.  Exciting runnel traverses!
