Sept. 1, 2011, Valle Nevado slacking
« on: 09/01/11, 04:42 PM »

Here in the Region Metropolitana, Chile, a warming trend currently threatens the lacking snowpack. We're hoping a small system delivers bigger than forecast this Saturday and that temps stay low to allow the season to stretch through the month. Despite all that, we nabbed a 1,400m descent at Valle Nevado, Chile today in great conditions. Big country.

Great backdrop for fresh tracks.

Hopefully, the forecast will deliver for you.

Here, the forecast is for sunshine and high 70's or low 80's.  I must say the salmon fishing has been incredible.  We're feasting on salmon and crab and filling up the smokehouse.   Wink

So familiar in the Andes.  Makes a short (less than a month) ski trip down there such a gamble. :-(
