My long-time ski bud, Greg, and myself headed to Sunrise in hopes of finding some linked turns in the August snow. The Sourdough Chutes proper were all melted out from the ridge trail. But, we headed out north/ northeast along the ridge and found 250 ft of continuous snow just off the trail. Beautiful, smooth corn-no cups or rocks to negotiate at all! We lapped this a few times before heading out. The mosquitos & horseflies were a bit more hungry than anticipated (and prepared for!). Gorgeous day to get some turns and glad we hit the parking lot around 8:00am. When we left a little after Noon, there was more than a mile of cars just waiting to be let into the MRNP gate! I've never seen an area in MRNP more crowded than this day.
8 months prego and just hit 121 months of TAY!!! Not too shabby...let's hope there's some good snow to get without too much effort in September & October!!
