Declared Monday a holiday and along with fellow slacker Mr. Wong, my son Ahren, and his boarding buddy Alex skinned up to Muir via the Paradise Glacier. Snow started from the top of the steps, and only a tiny yet skinnable bare spot on top of Mazama ridge. The bruising skiing from Muir to the top of the Paradise Glacier is not worth it, but the Paradise Glacier offered up creamy snow and excellent turns for 3000'. The skiing from the bottom of the glacier and out Mazama ridge was lightly suncupped but soft enough for a very enjoyabe ride. Absolutely amazing conditions for August!
Thanks for the great report. 3000' vert. making me think that a drive north might be worth the drive up from central Or.
