The chute is still in amazing shape and it is August! Did two laps there instead of continuing on to Muir, I hear the cups are bad 10000-9500, and then thanks to the big rock slide earlier in the summer, the snow 9500-8500 is very dusty. When a ski track is made, it is all white and the dusty ground around it melts faster, resulting in a 8-12" elevated track. Several of them become unpleasant to ski through.
I walked from 6500-7500', then skied all the way to the car in the overnight parking lot. Even the low angle skiing from 6500' down is only slightly cupped.
