It is still possible to skin and ski the creekbed from and to 4200', and the trail to that point goes quickly with clean track and some snow. The smooth skiing on the Squak Glacier now is at 6500' and above, and some might consider the snow below 7500' not all that smooth. The crevasse at 8900' is quite wide and deep, we crossed it on a bridge yesterday, and considered crossing it at a different bridge today. While we took a snack rest near the edge, we heard occasional creaking and then the ground shook and part of the edge fell into the crevasse. Then we turned around and enjoyed 4700' of skiing which took a lot less time than the final 850' of trail hiking to the parking lot.
