Tired of sitting around all week waiting for good weather, we decided to head for rain shadowed Sunrise for the day. Weather looked too good at the White River turnoff so we continued on to Paradise. Once there weather seemed to be coming in quickly, so we began to regret our plan change as we skinned up in cloud. At 8500' we broke into sun, took a lunch break at 9000' and watched the clouds thin out for a superb smooth run down the chute in 2-3" corn. Great decision after all!

The rockslide rubble by the upper Nisqually is impressive, and it appears the slide may have also started a snow slide on the lower glacier that looks like PistonBully work at a ski area. I started a mini slushalanche at the top of the chute, about 8' wide and 2" deep, it went the full length of the chute but took about 15 minutes to do it, and did not spread, entertaining. We saw about a dozen other skiers on the way up, all appeared to be headed for Muir.
Thoughts of Brenda Metz and Melvin Shefftz today; how fortunate Brenda's friends were to enjoy her company, condolences to the family, and thanks to Melvin I have two great ski buddies, what an inspiration he is to Jonathan and Ben.

Silas, do you have any recent photos of the debris pile from the rock slide? I am curious how it looks now.
