As Jeff mentioned in his report last month, Shasta is skiing beautifully. Skiied from just below the summit pinnacle (icy garbage above) to the car. I started down around 11 a.m. Misery Hill skied decently, but then the Gulch was amazing. 1 inch of corn on top of a pool table-smooth frozen surface. Below Helen, things got soupy, but who cares? Bring a helmet and boot crampons for the climb, as there was tons of ice/rock fall, even before sunrise. No boot pack up the Gulch.
soupy, is what the Fifth season calls it. heck, at least it snow soup
