more of just a quick conditions update for those that where interested. Went out with my dog for the weekend, camping and riding in the Leroy basin.
Drove chiwawa river rd to the phelps creek trail head. Trail went from dry to spotty snow at around box creek, then to solid snow for a couple miles until leroy. Many small ankle to calf deep creeks to ford. no real blow down to contend with.
Steep part of Leroy trail is dry hiking, then to solid snow just as the grade eases. good strategy is to just let your feet get wet crossing alol the ceeks, and then switch out socks and go to boots here.
once in the basin. hummocky down low, to sun cups and runnels where you break out into the basin. The higher and steeper you go, the better the snow quality.
Obviously, lot's of snow still up there. More then last June.. YMMV
