Crack o noon start from roadblock at Emigrant Pass (6440'.) Even in sunny California early afternoon the snow was soft 2" corn. With only a couple hours to spend, I made it only partway up the north face. A few earlier skiers had descended the SE side and said conditions were perfect. The snow in the devastated area is melting very fast, so some booting is likely now.
