Couldn't resist an eyewitness check-out. Pretty much still a horror show up there. I drove past Alp and it looked very brushy still, and Hyak looked even bonier, Silver peak was salt and pepper to the top, so I parked at the Silver Fur lift and meandered around the "Central" ski area for an hour.
The new snow that fell (about 6 inches) was nice, but in sun exposed places it was pretty much the only snow on the ground. The 14 inches the Summit website is claiming is extremely generous -- 14 inches in the deepest places, maybe 6 on the flats. Lots of little creeks running all over the place too.
Took a run down 360 face (I think that's the name) which was fun enough until it flattened out. Then I skinned back up and over to the top of Silver Fur, got a few turns inbetween the bushes, and then rock bashed back to the car.
All in all I had fun -- it was pretty up there w/ the trees flocked, a good family snowshoeing type of day. It looked like they were getting ready to open one brushy, dirty run at "West," no doubt for the sole purpose of being able to tell season pass holders who want a discount next season "but we opened on January 1st"!
