After cancelling plans on the way up to Hood the morning of the 13th due to rain we headed back up to the mountain that evening to be ready for the next day. The morning of the 14th was clear and we headed up through Meadows on skis but above the Cascade top station we switched to boots to get through a patch without snow. At that point the snow was still very firm and it was not far until we would start climbing up the face so we put on crampons and pulled out axes and booted up the rest of the way. It took us six hours to climb the face and we were on top around 10am and the snow was perfectly corned up. It only took us a half an hour to ski down and we had too much fun to bother to stop and take any photos. After cancelling multiple attempts to ski this route this spring due to bad weather it was great to finally ski such a fun route.
Looks like you timed your descent just right. The Face is wonderful fall line skiing in the right conditions.
Did you park in Meadow's lot? Gate was open?
I had spoken with somebody at Meadows on a previous trip and he told us it was best to park on the shoulder outside of the gate. The gate was closed when we pulled up and when we got back down.
