- the summer snow is in the Sierra's now. there's a healthy snowpack, 10k ft & above. the upper reaches of slopes/ crests has a sluggish cover, as it hasn't gotten warm enough for a prolonged period. I skied a lower section, with a good pitch at Ellery Lk (Tioga) and it was 4" deep - good stuff. groomed runs at the ski area are more dependent on an overnight freeze, or else you have to ski the 'salt'. that closes on the Fourth, anyway.
