June 9, 2011 Alpental
« on: 06/09/11, 11:05 PM »

After last Saturday's huff and puff up Summit West, I headed to Alpental after seeing grass on the slopes I skied on Saturday.  The clouds lifted by the time I arrived at noon and I had to put on sunscreen.  I walked 7 steps from the patio onto a continuous snowpack.  I only skinned to the top of Debbies which doubled my vertical from Saturday.  The coverage is excellent.  A nice surprise and welcomed relief for my lungs was when Lisa and Jake the Brit skied and boarded down with big smiles and nice turns.  When I descended around 2pm, the snow was excellent with an inch of penetration and very shallow sun cups.  What a great day so close to home.
