Got an early start this morning hoping for a window of good weather. Drove to approximately 3/4 mile from the Esmerelda TH. Everything was frozen solid under predawn blue skies. Thankfully someone had postholed up to the pass in warmer conditions leaving an easy path for us to scurry on up. Never even put the skis on going up. At the top waited for the sun to soften up the slopes back down towards the TH, and truly enjoyed a great spot in the Cascades I have never been to. We dropped in when we realized that storm clouds were pumping up the Teanaway. A great line in softish corn type snow, and it started to snow on us as soon as we were at the bottom. So happy to have been able to enjoy the short weather window this morning!
