The road to Cayuse Pass opened Thursday at noon so Naches Peak is accessible again. The road crew is still working on the road and are only to the first hairpin, so you have to access thru the drainage below the road. Snow banks are 20 feet plus. They have a new blower this year which really throws the chucks of snow - 150 feet . Hearing them hit trees gives you plenty of incentive to swing wide. Snow was good, about half inch of new on firm base, very stable, no new signs of slides or rollers. Weather was variable, snow to sun, mixed with sleet and fog as clouds based by.
Stopped at the Park Rangers on way back. They hope to have the road to the campground open early next week, but no date yet on opening the road to Sunrise.
