JohnK and I did a quick 'dusk patrol' to Catherine via Hyak. Left about 6:45pm and got to the summit just as the last bits of dusk were fading away via the Volken route on the NW side. Great snow coverage the entire way up. Some evidence of small wet slides including large 'snow balls' in the chutes near the top. No evidence of recent major slides.
The ski down was okay, but dark. The lower 1/3 of the face and the flat parts of Creek run @ Hyak are losing snow fast. Get it while you can
