April 30, 2011, Wilder Pfaff (Stubai Tirol)

Up early today to beat the crowds parking at one of the few ski areas still open in Europe.  First gondola at 8AM, and it is a Doppelmeyer red just like Crystal!  Rode 1700m to 3300m, then down a few hundred meters to put skins on and traverse over to Wilder Pfaff for our own private summit as all others were headed for Zuckerhuetl, Wolfgang always thinking.  Unfortunately the clouds arrived and gave a sense of vertigo as we tried to ski the surprising 20cm of fresh powder, lower down we did have fine turns on a solid base.  Skinned back to the top of the ski area, then down increasingly mushy snow to the mid station at 2300m where we downloaded and headed of to apres ski coffee and snacks.
