Blue sky, low wind, and sunny uphill skiing today. Made new friends with a team of young Bavarians. Skied great butter, having too much fun we ended up skinning a hundred unnecessary meters to get back to the hut. Then we had a nice lunch, loaded all the avalanche and glacier gear into the packs, walked south facing dirt trail for an hour, and slogged a low angle snow covered (thankfully) road to the Pizzini Hut.
My friend Wolfgang (76yo) was there, and he described his ascent and ski of Koenigspitz today, our objective for tomorrow. Again we saw several rando racers training for Mezzalama, watching them ski the 750gram Dynafit and Trab race skis downhill is impressive.
