December 16, 2004, Mission Ridge

Finally done with finals at UW and home in Wenatchee, I was looking for some easy turns in the backyard.  Knowing full well that the ski area was reporting a measly 6 inches and midway and 11 inches up top, Mission Ridge winds never fail to produce good coverage if you know where to look.  The best conditions turned out to be man-made and groomer-churned snow near the bottom, but the breakable crust up top would support a board well and a wind-affected dusting of new made for fun although unpredictable turns.  Anything remotely south facing or exposed to the wind was ugly.  Worthwhile trip nonetheless.
