Seven inches of new, right side up snow was enough to entice Jan, Jeff, Chmnyboy and me to head for Hurricane Ridge Saturday morning. The significant rain storm that deluged much of Western Wa earlier in the week had less affect on the the Ridge (less than 1" at Hurricane vs 12" at Buckinghorse SNOTEL Site).
We started our climb with temps in the low 20"s, light snow and calm winds. As we climbed towards the ridge line, hand shears indicated a good bond between the hard rain crust and the new snow. At the ridge line we were greeted with strengthening winds from the SW. After reaching our first objective, we made a hasty transition and dropped into moderately dense glades. We found variable conditions. Where the wind had deposited the new snow, the turns were sweet. In the areas scoured by the winds, the firm crust made for more character building conditions. 
As we climbed back to the ridge line, we evaluated our options. We chose a northwesterly facing aspect for our second (and third) runs. Here we found the conditions more consistent and enjoyable. 
Our 4th run took us down a more southerly facing slope. This aspect presented increasingly more challenging conditions as we lost elevation. The lure of cold refreshments at the car spurred us on.

We were out there Sunday taking our niece and her partner for her first skinning trip. We spent the day lapping the ski area bowl where the Poma runs. 6-18" fairly dense on a firm crust.
The only other person we saw skinning there was altasnob and his friend Lindsay---quite a coincidence; it was only his second trip ever to HR.
We rode the face from the top of the rope tow to the road while Lisa brought the car down to pick us up, and even that skied-over, warmed aspect was very turnable at about 5 PM.
