Late March Chamonix
« on: 04/03/11, 06:37 PM »

After a week of debauchery in Dublin for St. Patricks day, I was feeling fat and lazy so off to Chamonix to burn some calories. We got great tours in 9 out of 10 days while in the valley.  This was the lowest snow year I have seen there, only a few of the return routes to the valley floor are still skiable.  Most routes require a download or dirt walkin, but the high touring is in great shape as long as you keep a keen eye out for the many crevasses.  Here is a link to some picts.  We had a couple storm days where the camera did not come out of the pack, but of course that made for some great skiing the following days.
F.Y.I spelling of routes may not be correct

Sweet!  Glad you had a good trip.  Thanks again for the ski box loan.

Just goes to show that in Chamonix, even "bad" years are good!  Thanks for sharing the photos, even without food photos I can still remember some fine dining.
