Yeah, it does seem crazy but as the article mentioned only a small percentage purchase the full priced day ticket. I purchased a Whistler day ticket in December 2010 and had a 2 for 1 coupon and the single ticket price including GST, exchange,.. was $106.
Here's a link to the Vail Assoc. Epic Local Pass pricing for 2011/2012. I realize that $499 is a lot but if you happen to be a couple of senior citizens who have a condo on wheels you get a season pass to Breck, Keystone, A-Basin, Heavenly, Northstar and 10 days at Vail or Beaver Creek. We have never paid any sales tax on season passes we purchased in CA.
