Pete, Joe and I got a 0830 start from the end of the plowline on Whitepine Rd (1/2 mile or so from US2).  Followed road up to last switchback touching the Swauth - about 3700 or so and stayed in the uptrack of our trailbreaking heros - Keith and Brad - mille graci !  Topped up at around 1230.  Weather in and out all day.  Snowing one second, cloudy and decent visibility the other.  Evidence of recent windloading on this N aspect.  Ski penetration of about 18" or so.  Some skier triggered point releases on the way up.

Met up with the trailbreakers on the summit and discussed plans for a descent.  Plans for touring towards middle Chiwaukum cancelled due to poor visibility.  Joe, Pete and I skied down the East ridge for about 75' before dropping in to the skiers right side of the Swauth on a rib with trees.  Slightly less wind loaded.  Kicked off a small wind slab about 20' across and 6" deep.  Entrained some new loose snow as it travelled downhill < D1.  Less wind affected down from the ridge and it skied really well for about 2000'.  Pinwheel activity observed below about 4500 and snow got quite heavy.  Loose wet avalanche season has started.  Stayed to the side of the Swauth till the logging road switchback at 3200' and enjoyed a nice ride on the road back to the car.

Great day to be out.

Very sorry to hear about the fatality at Stevens today.  Deepest condolences and sympathy to family and friends.
Sweet Oyvind, good to see you're getting out.
