New Turns All Year Tradition !!!!!! was created by JW

I was looking at the web site the other day and had a thought. It occurred to me that for all the work and expense Charles has incurred over the years, he has only asked that we all be civil, decent people while we use this great resource. I think it's time we had a way to get Charles some credit for his efforts. What we need from you Charles is an address where we can send you a small token of our appreciation. You can't refuse, we won't take no for an answer.  What Turns All Year need's from us is an envelope, a stamp and a small amount of currency , individual users should decide what a comfortable amount should be based on capability and the amount of usefulness and enjoyment received . Tis the season , I say we all tell Charles and company thanks for the outstanding job they do ! What do ya say? Are ya with me? Great Idea, Jerman. As I have watched this site grow along with it's obvious need for bandwith (and it's associated ongoing cost) I have often wondered how long it would take for Charles to begin to explore ways to offset the costs of maintaining this site. The inevitability is obvious; sooner or later we will be faced with either a "pay membership" site (perish the thought, I hate those) or we'll see advertising. I know Charles abhors the thought of either, but I seem to have heard somewhere that he is not independently wealthy. So if that's true, eventually he'll have to seek some sort of recompense for the site. A voluntary contribution on our parts may help postpone the inevitable. Count me in... and Happy Holidays to all.

My sources (which are buried deep inside the vast Turns All Year hierarchy) suggest that what Charles really needs is a pair of big, burly boots and some impressively fat skis. Perhaps a gift certificate at the gear emporium of his choice...or ours.

If Charles doesn't cough up the address, we can track him down. "Four gleaming east-facing chutes, clustered closely together in the Maple Leaf Range of Northeast Seattle: the NE 90s Couloirs. I have had my eyes on these four lines for a long time, just waiting for them to all be "in". He unknowningly gave valuable hints in his January report from last year. I'll bet if someone does a slow cruise of the Maple Leaf neighborhood with their transceiver set to receive we could pick him up.

I know that I have recently discovered this site and found it to be one of the best things I have found on the web ever. It provides us addicts with an invaluable resource. I wish we had had something like this in CO when I was there. I am still figuring out who is who out of the TAYers but thank you all for anyone involved. Its nice to know there are so many other snow freaks out there. Hope to cross tracks with you all this winter (and spring, and summer, and fall). Solsoul

I'm in, the $$'s burning a hole in my pocket I need to get it out of there before it catches fire!! All jokes aside, TAY is a very valuable resourse of information, from TR's to weather links, to meeting new friends. I've always been amazed that Charles can keep track of the constant address changes' of the telemetry sites. That in itself is worth it's weight in gold. Now, if only we can get Charles to fix the Chinook site

I'm suprised Charles hasn't already skinned up to Chinook and fixed the telemetry site for us! MArk I like the idea of Cash better than a gift certificate as Charles could shop for price or spend the money where its needed. Ive been to his house ,now to just look through my notes. Ahha just found it but won't put it here.

Count me in! There is a cost in having someone or company host a site and maybe it will increase as more servers/space is needed to accommodate the rise in traffic and valuable info posted.

By golly, cw, I think you're right, I seem to remember now him saying something about visiting family in NC. We may not hear from him 'til the 16th. Still plenty of time for XMas deliveries tho
