Crystal - 03/18
« on: 03/18/11, 07:21 PM »

Big day, big fun with the Z’s and Mr CD,  lots of high speed runs on REX from BP’s to Outer Ferks, to Doors, to Front side center REX, to M-World, with some late afternoon runs around GV chair.  All very nice and the snowpack is huge.  Winds from the East smoothed and filled in a lot of the South slopes and blew into the North facing slopes.  Only neg for me today was very slow HC chair rides a few times – didn’t seem that the winds should have been an impact…but the chair was painfully slow….but HC chair line and PB made up for the slow chair.  Very big vert day for me this season…but not up to the Amar standard. Snow quality today was very nice, the lift lines did not appear, some snow showers during the day, some fog in places, but mostly a good vis day, the snowpack is huge! ddk

Just plain old Rex fall line fun today.  Nasty ridgetop wind and lots of blowing snow kept smoothing and filling in.  Once east of the ridgetop, no wind and great vis.  Not a powder day, but some of the fastest go anywhere snow of the year for me (not northfacing slopes, they where a wind blown whiteout most of the day).  Side/back countries will be incredible when the wind dies down.  It looks like the masses have ended their ski seasons, very few people on the mountain today.
