March 13, 2011, White Pass Avaluation

We headed to the Tatoosh yesterday for some avy skills practice and got to Eatonville before MRNP announced the road would not open. We continued to White Pass expecting rain. E flow was keeping precip white, but it was definitely wet.
A short tour N of the pass and some quick pits and scenarios kept us happy while the few short turns left something to be desired.
4700' SE aspect, 27 degrees:
CT12 Q3+ at 30cm down
CT22 Q3 at 24cm
CT7 Q2+ at 24cm
ECTP24 at 24cm
Storm snow (10cm) released easily with ski cuts, but did not run far on low angle terrain.

Col ,
Do you have the date right ? Could it have been sunday the 13th?
Very curious about area north of white pass as a alternative when longmire gate is not open .
Thanks

Yes, now corrected. It was the 13th. This was actually my first time at WP as I usually go to Rainier or northward. It's still a pretty long drive from Elbe on hwy 7, but seems like there is potential for low elevation/low angle touring when the Park shuts down. We couldn't see much...
