dug a pit at 6300 ft on a NNE slope of 40 degree pitch maybe a little steeper up top. Found nice consolidated snow under a wind affected pow of several inches down to almost 4 feet at which point encountered a dense layer of sugar snow just under a very light crust and then another light crust and more sugar snow but it was lighter than the first sugar snow and both layers were about two inches thick.
skied several lines with very light sluff and the conditions were good.
Because the chutes and bowl are not big in regard to size the deep light layers seemed managable, but could be a concern on very large steep bowls.
