Another great round of touring at the Barron Yurt with North Cascades Heli was had by the Squak MountainEars. NFG Adam was a pinner, but his climbing prowess put him on the A-Team with Camel Bob and Kerry. Kyle the kid did well despite skiing on borrowed gear. I really enjoyed skiing with my son Geoff on his first backcountry hut trip, where despite some minor blisters he was all grins. The entire gang had a great time moving about the mountains along both sides of the Pasayten wilderness border, as well as during the intense Farkle and Cribbage competitions in the evening.

Snow conditions were excellent and stable on all aspects we skied. There was no evidence of natural releases, and a column test on a NE aspect revealed moderate hazard. The weather was storybook; the first 3 days had highs in the teens (F) and snowing a few cm each day, then on Friday night it dumped 12cm new leading to a partly sunny Saturday and full sun Sunday with temps in the 20s.
I also would like to call out the excellent food provided; Kudos to The Mazama Store for providing very tasty fuel for the over 13K of climbing we did on the trip. And with sun on our last day we got a bonus when Seamus gave us a great ridge ride back to Mazama with the final drop into the upper Methow quite dramatic.
