Feb 25, Phantom Plunder
« on: 02/25/11, 04:14 PM »

Short cold day up to about 5500 on Snoqualmie Mtn.  Topped out above the Phantom.  Unbelievably, no one was up there.  Some split boarders set the track up to about 4500 (thanks) but they stayed low doing laps.  We broke trail for the last few hundred feet, and were absolutely kicking ourselves for not getting going earlier.

Our turn around time was 1PM.  The turns down were a step above amazing.  Face shots, chest shots, just stellar!  We ducked back into the trees to circle around the ice fall, and even in the trees the snow was great (but thin - hit a couple of rocks 8(

The slot still awaits some lucky few - untouched at least by us.  The snowpack was bomber - very little slough, no cracks, very solid.

A few pictures coming...

Nice TR! We saw your tracks down the phantom path from over at Alpental... Do you think the slot would slide? We're considering it, but because of the large slides that the Alpy patrol triggered today... maybe not.

Way to hit it, Don.
I would avoid the Slot Saturday, and try not to even think about it Sunday.
