Crystal 2/22 AM
« on: 02/22/11, 03:08 PM »

Nailed it. Pulled the Darksides out and stepped in the PR to warm up and Lisa P was amped to throw down the sticks in the powder line. We grabbed a EMT and we dove into Green Valley, Face shots the whole way down, Lisa knows the hill better then the pros (sheisone) we slashed our way down the Ferk (no Tracks) and we made our way into the Elk for the stash. Thigh deep in places and blower pow all morn. I split off from Lisa to hit some slower turns in Willie's, Lisa met up with  the off duty type folks and I saw them dip over the ridge to left A as I took yet another un tracked lap. Great day at the hill. I harvested the pow all in bounds and easy to get to type skiing. 13 + at 18 degrees with the Darksides, Lisa thanks for letting the old guy hang with ya, It was a "Sinners" type of day.
Great to ski POWDER. I brought the DS home to wax and hope to hit Alppy in the AM with the storm on the verge of going big close to home. Lots of TAY type folks chatting it up about avi and shoots and cliffs, Lots of chatter from the dugout (or indoor climbing gym), sounded like a middle school baseball game, glad to get into the pow and no sounds other than my breathing and wind with the hiss of the snow. keep it comming Ullar

Gotta agree - Get ready for the full blowin Marketing Report!...Very Very big day, started out lucky in that I made it into the A lot at 8:40! Ouch on the slow drive and my slow decision process this morning….5am report 9 new over boiler plate with 50mph gusts….hhhmmm…go? nogo?...glad I made the correct decision.  Expected big crowds, but they did not show. Expected only 9 new in protected places – got knee deep to start with hard snow fall all morning re-filling in the early runs.  Everything but Southback opened so the folks on the mountain spread out, there was not a lift line all day – at least were I was.  Snow was deep, I had more smoke eating face shots than I’ve had in most of my previous years of life…especially since there was not much competition for those face shots.  Everything was good, everything got better as the day progressed, sun came out mid day for a short window during my one solo ride in the Gondy – very nice quiet time, big surprise for me and anybody that’s put up with me.  Saw 6 new buckets waiting at the bottom to get attached tonight from what I heard. Will be leaving home tomorrow a lot early based on expected bad roads, hoards of skiers and lots of wasted space in the Pay part of the A lot. Might have been the biggest day so far this season. ddk.

Good skiing with you today Bill. Your assessment of the day was spot on. It definitely pays to follow a pro (LisaP)around the hill.

Enjoy your turns at Alpy tomorrow. I'm sticking with Crystal for the next couple of days as I was still laying first tracks on chair 6 lift line at 1pm when my legs threw in the towel. It  continues to puke.

See you on the hill  Grin

The Crystal site says the Gondy will be closed until about 11am Wednesday to attach the new cars.
