Six of us headed off to the east shore to get Bear Claw before the sun did. Also, after hearing mixed stability on the west shore, we opted for the lower storm totals on the east shore, plus avoids the holiday crowds. Easy approach thanks to an established skin track. We down-climbed into the top of the WSW facing main chute. Ski cuts released isolated 6-inch firm wind slabs at our entry point and the top 200 ft was wind affected. The rest of the ski was very good. Three of us continued for two more laps in then NNW facing trees for an excellent day with 6150 vert. Winter is back in the Sierras and cold temps w/ low winds is holding good settled cold snow above 7500-8000 ft. Hope the photos turn out, tired of trying to resize.
