Had aspirations for the bowl immediately below the summit after cascadefreaks TR from the 20th. The rain on Wed/Thurs was evident as the 18-24 inches of old snow was well saturated, but was topped with 6 fresh inches to provide for great turns. Due to white out visibility we did not go any higher than 6300 ft. on the ridge WSW of Rock Lake. From here down to about 5700 was spectacluar snow, dense enough to keep our edges off the crust underneath yet still fluffy. The trail is skiable down to about 5000 ft, Where anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow is on the ground. Great views in sunbreaks on the way down
Glad to hear you had some good turns on fresh snow cover! There's definitely some fun lines down from the ridge WSW of Rock Lake ;) It's amazing that much of the old snow survived last week's heavy rains.
