Feb 20, 2011 White Salmon, breakable wind crust?
« on: 02/21/11, 10:27 AM »

I can't believe how bad the snow was on the white salmon glacier on sunday.  everywhere else the snow was perfect and somehow all we got to ski was about 5,000 feet of horrible breakable wind crust.  tear your ACL crust.

we turned around at about 7000 feet as the conditions weren't getting any better, and we didnt think they would soften up.

ironically the best skiing was the approach, (the ski down from chair Cool. it was totally covered and decent snow. the skin out was not too bad either.

Frasier outflow was scrapping across the alpine all day Sat.  Pretty unusual.  Sounds like it did a number on the White Salmon.  Your right,,, everywhere else was ah....brilliant.
