Anxious to try out some boot modifications of the G-Ride, I decided to take a couple hrs. to try this out and thought it would be fun to take our 2 dogs up & kick their butts with some exercise. As usual, camera reporters up there documenting 1st dump at the lower passes of the season. Began skinning up the road towards the radio tower and was surprised of the close to 2 feet of fresh in places.
Breakin' trail was fun...something I don't do too often. As I approached the top, the dogs were longing to head back down & so I decided it was time to go (Shelty and Minature American Eskimo, both climbed up my skin track, although I tried to pack it down for 'em they still postholed like hell). The best skiing was the uphill track due to pertruding shrubs/branches in places over the main slopes, tree wells, etc. The ski down was awesome; fresh pow up to the quads & never scraped once over any obstacles...definitely felt like a February type day up there. Likely all won't stick around for long with the raising freezing levels predicted.

How did the boots work?
Hey Greg...thanks for asking. Unfortunately I don't think I was touring long enough to get a real feel for the potential for hot spots. Had I not had the dogs with me, I would have continued further. I can let you know in the coming weeks though. ;)
