December 30, 2010, Lake Ann

Headed out to Lake Ann with Lynden Don leaving the upper parking lot a little after 9 and dang was it cold! It stayed in the single digits to low teens all day and the sun only added minimal warmth. Skiing was pretty good though there is a bit of a crust, particularly lower down in the valley, under about 3 inches of powder. Skinning was easy going and was able to get good traction/purchase. We got to the saddle and then headed to the ridge above Lake Ann for a short run down to the lake. Snow was good though rather wind packed. We then skinned near the top of the ridge that runs into the Shuksan Arm for a run out to the valley floor. Snow was quite good and smooth. Not blower powder, but was smooth/consistent and quite fun. Went back via our skin track in, watching the amazing alpenglow and sunset play out on Shuksan. Back at the car at about 4:30 being just as cold when we left :). Truly a perfect day.
