The skiing has been really fabulous in the Hurricane backcountry for the past two weeks with ample powder and 77 inches total accumulation. Winds have been clocked at 80 mph so much of it is now in sheltered bowls and trees slopes. At times I could have used a face mask! Typically by the end of the season we are close to 110 inches. Lets hope it continues!
The last two days were perfectly clear with NO WIND! Today, some instability was seen on wind loaded slopes, fractures, slides and cornices collapsing.
