A dawn patrol with Clem led to some of the best turns of the season so far. Skinned up SW slopes to ~6k where kickturns were releasing blocks large enough to give us some pause. We dug a pit there, and found the responsible layer at CT16 Q2 12-18" down, at or near the saturated 8-10" thick crust. At the very surface, sluffs were quite reactive, ranging from .75" to 3" in lightly windloaded terrain. Soft windslabs growing with crossloading. Some new surface hoar in places.

Skied very well indeed, as loose powder prevented propagation of anything scary.

Oooh, I saw your skin track through a break in the clouds this morning.

Given the amount of water I saw pouring off on Sunday, how did the exit drainage treat you?

We actually managed to skin all the way up - first time I've ever done that, then exited via a gully I've never skied before. I'm sure that folks that head there often will have no trouble doing either one.
