Quick day to the Paradise area. Skied grabby, fresh tracks on north facing slopes in stable conditions. Ron threatened to kick my ass if I didn't help him build another laboratory. Lots of snow out there for early December. I'll let the master comment on the pit results, suffice it to say we felt safe skiing below it:
What you found: 2 metres of rounds? Uniform increases in hardness with depth?

Paging RonJ!

Pretty good guess...
About 160 CM to ground with shear layers at 140 (Q1 - never felt it with card... probably buried surface hoar; area was shady and well protected) and 100 (Q2 to 3) with about 30cm of pencil hard refrozen raincrust against the ground. Busy today; I'll embellish on FOAC later.

Thanks for the data RonJ. Was this profile excavated in a forested area?
