After various comedies, including confusing my climber-but-not-quite-yet-backcountry-skier roommate greatly by telling her we were going to *Mazama* Ridge to ski ("not climb?"), leaving my ski poles in the wrong car, and waking up early enough to allow us to sit at the Longmire gate for an hour (until 10:15 a.m.), we finally arrived in paradise for our first powder of the season.

Enough powder for all? Check.
Mostly calm winds? Check.
Stable snow? Check.
Days too short to properly enjoy it all? Check. (sniff, sniff)

Thanks for the report and photo. Love your insight on the logistics; it seems like the challenge with gear, partners and travel never ends. When you get it all figured out, let us know, then publish the book.
