glenn_b convinced me to cancel my plans to ski Chinook pass again to hit up some closer snow on Thorp Mountain....  I don't know why I listen to him, but I do.

The road up was in pretty good shape; snow covered the last mile or so, but nothing the Outback couldn't handle.  We booted up until it got covered enough to skin, but the snow was thin and wet.  The continual light drizzle didn't help much, either.  We continued up beyond the lake until we got into the old growth forest and realized there really wasn't any chance of finding skiable snow, and started skinning down.

On the way down we did get an opportunity to tear off the skins and get some real turns in.  Dense wet snow, though.  I have to say, put this trip off until the next dump.

Overall, of course it was a great day...  As is any day with snow!
Where is this, and what highway is it accessed from?

North of Roslyn.  I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass, get off at Roslyn and head north.  Once you get past civilization and beyond the lake, turn left up French Cabin Road.  You hang a right eventually and continue to the end of the road.

Also known as, it's in the middle of nowhere. :)
