Dragontail questions was created by Alan Brunelle
I just hiked up to Colchuck Lake with the family and to recon for possible trips next Spring.

I noticed lots of reports of skiing on the Colchuck Glacier, but I was wondering if the slope below Aasgard Pass gets skied a lot, and in particular whether the bowl just east of the Dragontail summit does not get skied in combo with the route down from the Pass.

If there are trip reports on this, please point me to them. Also curious of the best time of year, but of course I understand that largely depends on yearly conditions.

thanks,
Alan

It's quite commonly skied, both the slope below Aasgard Pass and the bowl east of Dragontail, and there have been several TRs here on TAY and elsewhere (CascadeClimbers and NWHikers) over the years.

Part of the problem with trying to search for the TRs is that most people (and even some newspapers) have no idea how to spell the name of this pass properly, and in addition to that, the official name of the pass (Aasgard Pass) differs from the standard English spelling of "Asgard" when referring to the home of the Norse gods.  So TRs are written using "Aasgard", "Asgard", "Asgaard", even "Assgard" Pass, and probably some other variations too. So I tried searching for each of those spellings for the name of the pass. Searching for Dragontail brings up lots of other routes to sift through.

A few results that I found just now, there are many other older TRs too:

Dragontail 4/25/10
March 4-6, 2010, Dragontail powder
February 21-22, 2010 - Dragontail
Dragontail via Asgaard Pass (ski descent) 5/23-24/09
