My friend Jake wanted to get out and try his new split board mountaineering binding he has made so a quick trip to Rainier was in order.

We started at the 4th Crossing trail head and began skinning at the Stevens/Van Trump Memorial Bench.

We stopped at the base of Anvil Rock where we snacked and began our descent.  We enjoyed the whole place to ourselves aside from one other who was a park employee, a rare treat on Rainier.

The upper mountain remained in dark ominous clouds throughout the day.
The conditions were corn with small sun cups up high.

Cool shots, looks like I'm really touring.  Sounds like a good tour.
How did the bindings work?!

Jake was pretty happy with them and said he had a few minor tweaks to make and then on with the patent I guess.

Hi Lisa: I enjoyed meeting you and Jake that day. It was about a 1000 vertical foot drop into Cowlitz.

...gotta remember to smile next time.

I've got to do some Patent work before I can talk about it. But it works so I'm happy.

Nearly forgot to say Happy Birthday to Lisa, it was a laugh touring with you
...and always nice to meet you Ken, always a pleasure to meet a scientist on a glacier!
