We hiked up the main trail from the parking lot at 10:30am.  The trail was closed 1.3 miles into the hike so we stayed on the snow to make it near the top.  Great views of snow covered Shasta, Brokeoff Mountain, Mt. Diller, Lake Almanor, and the valley below.  We looked at different lines to ski but picked the SE face so we could ski down and then around to the car.  (We skied the SE face two years ago in May and had a great time during a storm.)  We skied at 1:30pm and the corn snow was great.  The sun cups at the bottom were nothing to worry about.  Wow!!! Turns in July.
NE was thin but skiable and S Face was bare until the underside of the big rock.
Nice.  :)
What did the NE face look like?  Is the road open all the way to the Devastated Area?

A week ago, it was great (see the TR from July 3). The road's been open to the Devastated Area for quite a while; I think they generally open it pretty early in the season.

True for N access.  About a week ago it had not been open from the Dev. Area to the south side TH.  Just curious; I probably did my SoCascades jaunt for the summer.

The road is open from both sides of the park.  The NE side is skiable but thin with a traverse and estimated 45 minute hike back to road and a hitch hike back to the main parking lot.  Looks like an amazing line with a some steep sections for the brave ones.
