Mt Lassen (& Shasta), are reporting a snowpack of 140% of avg. this year. Lassen has about 6-8 ft of snow on the upper mtn., which is impressive. The lower part of the trail is all snow; and the upper part is closed. It is closed because there was a problem with the trail last summer. To summit, you have to stay on the snow and not the trail. The suncups are about 4-6" deep, and during July it isn't a problem, as the temps. are on the rise.
I was lucky enough to ski the slope directly above the parking area. I got in an impressive 45 turns on a 35-40 degree pitch. Of course I did 2 more laps the next day! There was also some skiable lines lower down the Park rd.
