Got a late start and drove out to Waterhole in clouds and fog. I brought my bike along hoping that the plow had finished the job to Obstruction. This was the first time I have ever biked with a skis on my back. It was steep and slow pedaling up but in hindsight I thought it was well worth the effort. The glide back was a great not to mention the time it shaved of my trip!
The road is clear of snow for maybe two miles past the gate at Waterhole. A loader is parked near the edge of a large snowfield about 1/4 mile below Eagle Peak and from there the road is maybe 35% snow covered to Obstruction. Plenty of turns to be had on north and east facing bowls along the road and Lillian Ridge. Grand Valley would be a wonderful ski to the pass. Beautiful vistas of Olympus towards evening!
