We arrived at Sunrise Parking lot about 9:00 AM expecting to see crowds of skiers.  Amazingly, there were only two other groups of skiers gearing up when we arrived.  The meadow is completely covered with heavily runnelled snow and we skinned from the car to the bowl just west of Antler Peak.  This bowl was firm with small suncups and a few runnels but was edgeable and skied well down to Huckleberry Basin where we skinned west and eyed the chutes.  We spotted a particularly steep smooth one and booted up for a couple of laps on softening almost-corn.  There was only one other track as far as we could see and after four laps we saw no other skiers in the chutes.  By 2:30 the the snow was slushy in places but showed no signs of moving.  It was great to ski from the very top of the chutes without any of the scree down climbing we have experienced in past years.  Except for some of the rough surface the snow conditions were nearly perfect and should last for some time.

Nice to see you guys at the hairpin and glad you got some.
BTW, I ordered some ski leashes like yours. Thanks for the tip.

Looks like you guys had a great day at Sunrise  :)

Excellent pictures, Sidnie's smile in the 3rd one really says it all.

Who's leashes is Scottsman refering to?

Gary and Jan
