Coverage is still great on the Mountain. Got rolling early to beat the heat. Best snow above Pebble Creek was at 11:30. I descended from Muir at 11 and 2:30, the former was significantly better. The icefall put on a show, with a number of slides, and by 3pm many of the slopes on the western margin of the Nisqually had slid.

At midday, snow was punchy at and below Pebble Creek, but had a supportable and fun corny crust above. By 3pm, hikers out of the cowtrack were postholing above the knee above PC and snow snakes lurked in isothermal goo. At Paradise proper, Spring snow is starting to come to the surface :).

Great day out. The accurately forecasted onshore push brought beautiful spiraling clouds and brief, scattered, and refreshing whiteouts to the lower snowfield throughout the afternoon.
Informative and poetic    8)

I agree, poetic, even the pics.

We were some of the early birds also, leaving the parking lot at 7:30 and I have to say that the skiing from Muir to Anvil and skiers left to Pebble creek was some of the fastest,  most exquisite, shirt ripping turns we have made in a long while. Was that your crew with the youngster in the green pants?

Isn't it great to feel a ski really flex underfoot?

Nope, skiing alone. That group of four came by at the right time for good light, and was consistently more angulated than most.

Re:poesy -- Thanks!
